Dear Parents and Carers,
With outdoor excursions now being allowed, one of the joys this week was being able to reinstate the excursion for Year 2/3 to Bournda that had been planned for earlier in the year and postponed until restrictions eased. The students and their teachers had a fabulous day of learning and engagement and the staff at Bournda commended them on their behaviour, attitude and engagement. Thank you 2/3 for representing our school with pride out in the community. Thank you to Mrs Lott, Mrs Wiley and Brytan Aldridge (AEW) for a great day, and Mrs Sheahan for your organisation of the excursion.
On Wednesday we had the 2nd Kinderstart program for our 2022 Kinders. Thank you to Mrs Banks for organising a fun and engaging morning for the children. We are delighted to announce that Mrs Banks will be the Kindergarten teacher at St Patrick's in 2022, and Mrs McPherson will be working one day per week in Kinder. We sent the children home with a pack of shoelaces and a cardboard shoe cut out, and we are wondering how their mums, dads and carers are going with teaching how to tie shoelaces! Do your children know how to tie laces? This skill can usually be learned by the age of 5 or 6, whilst velcro is a great invention, knowing how to tie laces is a great skill to have.
Today our Year 5 students engaged in learning and collaborating during their Christian Leadership Day. We welcomed Tony Nassar to the team. During the day the students learned about their own strengths and gifts and about the attributes of leaders. Thank you to Mrs Ferris and Miss Rees for leading the day. We are delighted to announce that these teachers are the Year 5/6 teachers for 2022. Ms Alicia Jenkins will be the co-teacher with Mrs Ferris.
We look forward to announcing the teaching team for 2022 at the end of next week.
Blessings on a restful weekend with your family.

Upcoming Events
No further Chapel Masses this term.
Retreats:
Week 8 - Wednesday 24th 1/2B, Thursday 25th 1/2F & Friday 26th KF
Creativity Under Construction
This week 4/5B & 2/3L participated in a class retreat which focused on pray.
Students were given opportunities to express themselves creatively, explore the three worlds of the text and explore different forms of prayer including Lectio Divina.
When you pray as a family remember this:
Prayer is not always about the words we say, but rather about how deeply we can listen. Sometimes in life we are faced with challenges, we feel like we are lost, or do not have direction. Prayer can provide an opportunity to listen to the still small voice of God.
Vinnies Christmas Appeal
This year we will be supporting the Vinnies Christmas Appeal again. For the remainder of the term you will find hampers in the front office foyer. If your family is able, they can donate the following no perishable foods to go in the hampers:
- Cake mixes
- Christmas puddings
- Pasta, rice, noodles
- Canned food
- Biscuits and chips
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Soap
*No chocolates please.
These hampers ensure the less fortunate have food for the Christmas period.
Preparing for 2022
As we approach the end of another school year, in the coming weeks I will be touching base with parents of students on Personalised Plans to implement a transition plan for 2022.
School Fees are now overdue.
Thank you to the families who have already finalised their 2021 fees.
If at any time your family is experiencing financial hardship due to Covid-19 or any other reason or your family is in need of other support, please contact the school to make a time for a confidential meeting with our Principal, Jo Scott-Pegum to discuss how the school can help support your family.
For families needing assistance the school will be in contact by phone or email in support of setting up an effective payment plan.
