Dear Parents and Carers,
St Patrick’s staff were commissioned in their work in education last Sunday at the Parish Mass. Fr Alex Osborne called on the parish to pray for all who work in education and in particular all who work at St Patrick’s school. I ask you to pray for the staff of St Patrick’s as we work together in the education of all St Pat’s students.
Today, at a special cohort Mass, we commissioned our Year 6 students as leaders of the school. They are called to live and lead our school vision, pillars and rules in their words and actions each day. We look forward to the commencement of the student parliament in coming weeks where each student leader can take their roles into practical weekly activities to continue to enhance our student voice and action in community.
The first day of Year 3-6 swimming went very well this week. Thanks to Mrs Harnett for the organisation and the pool staff for the great teaching. We hope all students attending swimming in Term 1 will be able to set and achieve a personal swimming goal. Please talk with your child about swimming and a goal for improvement. We look forward to the Year 3-6 swimming carnival next week.
Thank you to our teaching staff for their welcome videos that were presented on the SeeSaw platform in lieu of our planned Parent Information Night this week. Please take time to view the short messages from your child's teachers and to read the term overview and classroom timetable that have been provided. Welcome messages from myself, Mrs Sheahan and Mrs Grant are linked in our school website, please take a minute to view these short clips. https://stpatsbega.nsw.edu.au/meet-our-teachers
The St Pat's Kids Journals have arrived and are already being put to great use! When we recognise the behaviours for learning and engagement - at both daily assembly, in the classrooms and around the school students are receiving St Pat's Kids stickers to put in their journal.
Have an enjoyable weekend.
Blessings
Jo
QUESTACON SCIENCE CIRCUS VISITS OUR SCHOOL
The Questacon Science Circus is a major outreach program from Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra. A Science Circus experience is an exciting and interactive presentation covering aspects of science in everyday life. A Science Circus experience is designed to stimulate and challenge students to explore science and technology for themselves and is an ideal basis for follow-on activities.
NEW BINS AT ST PATS
St Pat's is working towards a sustainable, environmentally aware community. This year all areas of the school have been introduced to our new bin system; encouraging all students to sort and categorise our rubbish to reduce landfill.
