Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we celebrate the last day of Term 3, 2020. Many students have earned their way to the class celebration day by following the three school rules and engaging successfully in their learning. For most of us, both teachers and students, Term 3 has felt more like a year in duration. Such is the experience of the covid aspect of the 2020 year and the changes that the pandemic has brought to our lives. This week in particular has been reasonably hectic but also filled with joy as each class performed their dance for the camera, and for the future family audience when the dvd’s arrive. We didn’t ever imagine that we would be having a concert without a live audience - and yet that is what we have done!
I offer our sincere and heartfelt thanks to:
- Ms Aleeta Northey for her amazing talent in choreography.
- Mr Adam Twyford for freely giving his time and talent yet again to be the sound and light engineer.
- Mr Ross Mannell for freely giving his time and talent as our videographer - which we will all appreciate even more in the year 2020 when the concert DVD will be the hottest DVD in 155 family lounge rooms the week it is produced!
- The staff at St Pat’s for their flair in bringing the class performances to fruition and their creativity in costuming and of course their on stage pizzazz!
- Mrs Perryman for coordinating so many elements of the concert experience.
- Mr & Mrs Perryman, Mr & Mrs Carracher, Ms Nicholas and Mrs Wiley for their weekend work on the amazing Disney themed backdrop.
AND
- Most importantly to our 220 St Pat’s kids for their persistent and diligent efforts for 2 ½ weeks to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse and get the dance just right for the stage! We really enjoy seeing our students learn and develop their dance and stage performance skills through practice and persistence (we really like seeing them develop many skills across the curriculum through practice and persistence).
The school will order one concert dvd per family, this will be our gift to our St Pat’s kids for their fabulous performance. If your family would like further copies they will be available for order on qkr for $10. Orders must be made by Friday 9th October.
Here are a few photos of some of the classes on stage yesterday. The class performance has been uploaded to the class Seesaw page for your viewing.
And waiting for the concert to begin
Wishing you a peace filled and relaxing holiday. May you find time to do things that your family really enjoys together! I hope that your holiday will include a good few hours reading some great books together!
We will see you when Term 4 commences on Tuesday 13th October.
Blessings.
Jo
Family Prayer
Over the holidays I encourage families to pray together.
Speaking on the importance of family prayer, in his document “On the Value and Inviolability of Human Life,” St. Pope John Paul II wrote:
The family celebrates the Gospel of life through daily prayer, both individual prayer and family prayer. The family prays in order to glorify and give thanks to God for the gift of life, and implores his light and strength in order to face times of difficulty and suffering without losing hope. But the celebration which gives meaning to every other form of prayer and worship is found in the family's actual daily life together, if it is a life of love and self-giving. (no. 93)
Christian Meditation
Christian meditation is the process of reflecting on Scripture and allowing it to transform our lives. The first step is to read God’s Word and repeat or rehearse it in our minds. Then we reflect on it in our hearts. This leads us to act upon what it says and to live more like Christ.
Here are some apps that support Christian Meditation:
- Reflect – Christian Mindfulness
- Recenter with Christ – Christian Meditation
- Centering Prayer
- Smiling Mind
- Mindfulness Coach
Mission Month
October is Mission Month. The 2020 Focus is Cambodia, specifically supporting children with disabilities at the Arrupe Centre, Battambang.
St Pat’s will have a Mission Month Virtual Liturgy and will also have a Socktober day for fundraising. Watch this space in Term 4 for more information.

To the Staff of St Patrick’s Primary School
On behalf of St Patrick’s Primary School Community Council, I would like to express our sincere thanks to each and every single staff member for all of the effort you have put in this year to keep the school running as smoothly as possible. We appreciate that this has only happened through much energy, determination and personal sacrifice.
2020 has been a year like no other, to put it mildly. We have all faced challenges that have required us to draw on our own strength and resilience to persevere at times when it has felt difficult and overwhelming. Then super heroes, like yourselves, working in schools are also helping our children navigate these unusual, and at times, unsettling situations. We appreciate all the effort that has also gone into incorporating the extra responsibilities and requirements that have come along with this brave new world. No role in the school has been untouched and we value what you have all done.
As parents, carers and family, we are in awe and incredibly grateful for all St Patrick’s staff providing a safe and welcoming environment for our children. Without a doubt, it has helped our children cope and has kept them safe.
We are so proud of our St Patrick's staff and appreciate your dedication and strength during these unprecedented times. If there is any way in which we can support you, please let us know.
Our greatest appreciation and admiration to you all.
Regards
