Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 5/6 Canberra Camp: Thank you to Mrs Carracher, Mr Broughton, Ms Nicholas and Mrs Bateman for taking our senior students on their 3 day Canberra excursion. We know the students will have appreciated your care, guidance and teaching in that new context and for the opportunity to participate in the camp. A big thank you to Mrs Sheahan for all her organisation and coordination skills ensuring everything about the trip went smoothly! We can't wait to hear the many things they learned from the busy schedule!
Staff: We welcome Mrs Nancy Santos to the teaching team of St Patrick’s. Mrs Santos will be teaching Year 3/4M when Mrs McNoe goes on maternity leave early in Term 2. We will tell you more about Mrs Santos at the beginning of Term 2!
Working Bee: We are thankful for the rain and the growth it brings, however all of our gardens and grounds are in need of LOTS of HELP! We have planned an ALL GREEN THINGS working bee for the morning of the last Saturday of the holidays. PLEASE come. We need you! See the flyer attached for more information and put your name on the eform so we know who is coming! Thanks.

Easter We have walked the journey with Jesus this week from the joy of the crowds waving palms and welcoming Jesus on Palm Sunday and the breaking of the bread and sharing of the cup at the Last Supper. We have heard the story of agony from Jesus praying in the garden and walking the stations of the cross to the crucifixion. We end with the Christian celebration of all believers that Jesus has risen from the dead, and the wonder and mystery the Resurrection.
Easter raffle: Congratulations to the 10 winners of the Easter raffle prizes. Zaviea, Machlan(2), Jack G, Austin, Jayme, Eli, Flynn, Bella and Trey.
Thank you to the Community Council, in particular Mrs Shoveller and Mrs Salway for organising the raffle prizes and Mrs Kennedy for coming to help with the draw.
Wishing you all a happy and a holy Easter.
Jo

Empowered Program
This week during the Easter raffle assembly 60 brave Empowered students performed a "flashmob" to share a spontaneous music vibration. Using the beat of a drum to ground and express themselves the Empowered students for 9 weeks explored beat and how it feels and resonates within their bodies. Like all music, sharing it with the whole school, was inevitable. However I mention that these students were BRAVE as bravery is one of the character strengths that they had explored.
BRAVERY is when you feel scared and you do it anyway
Some of the Empowered students were fearful of standing up and drumming in front of the school and were coached to face their fear. Performing within a group can give you confidence and yet the biggest block to doing something different is usually our own self talk. One student who was aprehensive and thought about not coming to school on the day of the performance ran up to me on Monday and said,
" Arent you proud that I am here today Ms Spicer?" to which I replied "Of course I am because I know that YOU have overcome your fear and are showing the character strength of bravery."
Having learnt about all 24 character strengths this was a great example of the strength of BRAVERY.
"What is something you did this week for the first time that required bravery?'
Watch the flasmob is on your child's seesaw account.
Enjoy
Ms Spicer
